About Buzet
The old city Buzet is placed at 150 m high hill above the fertile valley of the river Mirna, while the newer part of town – Fontana, developed at the foot of the hill. Buzet is also known as the City of truffles because it is located in a zone in which grows the most valuable underground fungus in the world.
The area is very diverse, from 100 meters to over 1000 meters above the sea level. This makes differences in climate. While in the valley of river Mirna prevails mild Mediterranean climate, in the mountain area called Cicarija has continental, mountain climate.
Cicarija area, the so-called “The roof of Istria” can provide a pleasant holiday with its forest area, beautiful meadows and pastures, especially in the summer months, but in the winter too – for fans of winter joy.
Buzet, along with the surrounding area known as „Buzestina“ spreads on 165 km wide area where lives around 6000 inhabitants. Under term „Buzestina“implies a part of the town of Buzet, and all the villages and hamlets around Roc, Hum, Vrh, Racisce, Sovinjak.

It is inhabited from time immemorial and abounds not only with historic monuments but with historic stories and myths as well. There are diverse wine routes, olive oil paths and an event dedicated to „rakija“ at your disposal. You can also savor or attend educations on the most valuable tuber abundant in this area- the truffle. The Buzet Truffle days are an ideal opportunity to savor various delicacies including the world’s largest truffle scrambled eggs dish.
In the Mirna River valley, along the edge of Motovun forest developed medical tourism in the Istrian thermal resort, which provides sulfuric water, thermal baths and Mud used for treating rheumatic diseases and endocrine system.

About Istria
